The role of Lead – Inclusion and Diversity will support AEO’s drive to achieve our inclusion and diversity goals and create a more inclusive community for our associates. AEO is seeking candidates whose education, perspectives, and experience enable them to provide vision, leadership and counsel on matters of inclusion and diversity, collaborate across functions to create a welcoming and respectful environment that embraces diversity as a dimension of excellence, and promotes a culture of openness and inclusion. The ideal candidate will have  demonstrated experience in advancing inclusion and diversity initiatives and programs within an organization and show proven success in— or aptitude for— talent acquisition, external relations, communications, education and development.


  • Support Vice President of Employment Law/Chief Inclusion and Diversity Officer in achieving inclusion and diversity goals and objectives in the three pillars of Hiring, Culture and Development.
  • Design I&D strategic initiatives and create action plans for execution and accountability. Create tools and resources to track progress and measure results.
  • Be a centralized resource for, and liaison to, affinity and employee resource groups, leadership, and both internal and external stakeholders for inclusion and diversity.
  • Partner with I&D Alliance to organize their efforts, create cohesion, promote accountability, and turn ideas into action. Create tools to help working groups and sub-teams communicate and effectively share ideas.
  • Work with business leaders to help them understand, promote and execute I&D Mission and Goals. Support them in creating action plans for their areas and work with HR Business Partners to manage sensitive issues relating to Inclusion and Diversity.
  • Lead in executing diversity-oriented programs and initiatives, including the implementation of AEO’s strategic plan for diversity, inclusion and equity.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to integrate diversity and equity practices into employment and workplace practices and programs in support of AEO’s commitment to inclusion. Ensure compliance with applicable federal/state laws, policies, and procedures (e.g. Title VII, Americans with Disabilities Act, ADEA).
  • Organize, attend and lead events and programming (both in-person and virtually) in support of I&D mission and goals.


  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 2-3 years of progressive responsibility in facilitating diversity inclusion and equity program administration or related experience
  • Proven ability to:
  • Articulate thought leadership and a clear point of view.
  • Navigate ambiguous situations successfully.
  • Manage and execute projects, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Develop and execute training presentations for a variety of audiences.
  • Facilitate dialogue across business units, functions, geographies.
  • Research, identify and implement best practices of diversity and inclusion.
  • The ability to work effectively and collaboratively.
  • The ability to travel as required.
