POSITION TITLE:                  Manager – Business Continuity & Emergency Response

REPORTS TO:                        Senior Manager – Emergency and Business Continuity Management

SUPERVISES:                         Individual contributors with extensive matrix management

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Maintain procedures and plans to respond to natural disasters and other emergencies in order to minimize risk to people, property, and product. Engage business entities, government agencies, public safety officials, and first responders to build emergency response plans and organize training programs and exercises for AEO Inc. employees and business partners. Analyze resources, equipment, and staff available to respond to emergencies.


Manage Business Continuity Planning (BCP), Business Impact Analysis (BIA), company table-top and live-drill exercises across the organization, to include all business partners and critical vendors.  Analyze resources, equipment, and staff available to respond to emergencies and recover specific business processes rapidly and efficiently as possible. 


Be an integral part of the global emergency response team, business continuity team, highly involved as a partner in Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) protocols, procedures and emergency communications to support stores, digital, sourcing, supply chain, distribution and corporate employees, locations and business processes.  

 
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain all company emergency action plans for business locations, business processes, and critical vendors.
  • Manage all Business Continuity activities, team members, systems, education, exercises and vendors.
  • Develop and maintain liaisons with local government partners (foreign and domestic) and similar entities to facilitate plan development, response effort coordination, and exchanges of personnel and equipment.
  • Through the team, design and administer emergency preparedness training courses for employees, contractors and business partners how to effectively respond to major emergencies.
  • Develop and perform tests and evaluations of emergency management plans in accordance with government regulations.
  • Develop emergency response plans / procedures and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Maintain and update all resource materials associated with emergency preparedness plans.
  • Assist in preparation of situation reports (SITREP) that describe response and recovery efforts and damage assessments.
  • Prepare reports related to compliance matters.
  • Propose alteration of emergency response procedures based on regulatory changes, technological changes, or knowledge gained from outcomes of previous situations.  Recommend organizational process or policy changes.
  • Inspect facilities and equipment to determine their operational and functional capabilities in emergency situations.
  • Review emergency plans of business partners and critical vendors.  Consult with business partners to improve and standardize emergency response and business continuity plans.
  • Develop instructional materials for the public and make presentations to citizens' groups to provide information on emergency plans and their implementation processes.  Maintain knowledge of current developments in area of expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 5+ years of experience in leadership, emergency procedures, response planning, security tactics, or business recovery.
  • Applicable certifications, military training, specialized education or industry accreditation preferred.
  • Good project management skills.  Ability to plan, organize, and direct the testing of emergency response, recovery support, and business resumption procedures.
  • Strong human relations skills to interface with management and staff at all levels within the organization, vendors of record storage facilities and disaster recovery services.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
